Hi, I'm Riki

I’m an established Broadway musical theatre performer, a long-time children’s theatre teacher, and someone who absolutely loves helping kids and teens grow into confident, joyful performers.

If your child LIGHTS UP when they sing, act, or step onto a stage — we're gunna get along GREAT!

You might’ve seen me in productions of Come From Away, Matilda The Musical, or Dear Evan Hansen.

These days, I get just as excited watching a young performer nail their first audition as I do stepping onto a big stage myself.

You’re the mom of a kid who loves to sing.

They’re singing into their hairbrush, dancing around the house, and dreaming big.

You love seeing that spark.

And you want to help them grow their confidence and skills — without losing the joy that made them fall in love with singing in the first place.

I understand that world because I was that kid.

I grew up playing musical theatre cast albums on repeat, dreaming about performing on Broadway.

Little did 9-year-old Marika know… one day she actually would.

But along the way I’ve also seen talented kids lose their confidence because no one helped them build the mindset and skills they needed to keep enjoying it.

My goal is simple: help kids grow as singers while keeping the fun, confidence, and love of performing that started it all.

What I LOVE about the little MAGGOTS!

One of my FAVORITE parts of playing the AWFUL mother, Mrs Woomwood in Matilda The Musical was sharing the stage with SO many young artists!

Audition Preparation

After decades of experience auditioning and preparing for roles (and accepting the disappointment of NOT getting a role) I've got a deep understanding of how to inspire and prepare your kiddo for success at either the local level or as they prepare for Broadway stages!

Hear from a past "Matilda"

I have had the ABSOLUTE privilege of working with Molly on stage, playing the role of Matilda, then just 10 years old! Now look at her!

She's 21 and studying at TISCH!

Here Is What Nobody Is Telling You

Most parents make the mistake of hiring a local singing teacher who plays the piano and teaches "the notes".

They are fine if it's a hobby, but they often don't understand the industry.

They can't teach your daughter how to handle a room of directors or how to stand tall when she faces rejection.

You're a busy momma. You're juggling a career and a household.

Spending hours every week commuting to a teacher who doesn't "get" the audition process, is a waste of your time and her talent.

Local teachers teach how to sing; they don't teach how to survive in the business

Why Virtual Coaching Is Different

I bring actual Broadway experience directly to your daughter’s bedroom.

We don't go over the concepts a local tutor would. We do elite performance training and mental resilience.

By moving these lessons online, we cut out the travel time for you and give her direct access to a professional who actually works in the industry.

I don't just help her with her pitch and "the notes"; I help build the thick skin she needs to keep her confidence for the rejection and resilience in the arts.

We aren't just practicing for a recital—we are training for the skills she needs for life.

Our Mutual Goals

• Walk into any audition room with the confidence, skill and posture of someone who you can't stop watching.

• Become a seriously competent self-taper. Most auditions these days begin with a self-test, recorded from home.

If your child isn't prepared for how to present on a home audition, they will already be behind.

• Watch them handle disappointment with their head held high instead of feeling "not good enough."

• Know exactly what a theater director or casting agent is looking for.

• Give her the technical vocal skills to hit the big notes without straining or fear.

• Watch her transform from a "hobbyist" into a serious performer with a clear path forward.

FAQs

Answers to Your Questions About Tutoring at Marika Aubrey Studio

What ages do you tutor at Marika Aubrey Studio?

From ages 8 and up get the most value from my sessions. I also coach students through middle school through to college level including the college audition process, as well as preparing for Broadway, West End or Australian professional musical auditions

How are virtual lessons more effective than in-person coaching?

Apart from the obvious advantage of not needing to take time away from your busy schedule to taxi your child around to a local teacher, most professional auditions these days are virtual called self-tapes or self-tests. Learning to perform to a webcam or camera is a necessary skill that many in-person singing coaches forget to implement. Plus, being in your child's home environment also helps them feel the most comfortable and free to take risks.

Do you talk with parents or students on the Introductory Lesson?

I'd love to speak to you both if you're available. If you're kiddo is old enough and comfortable jumping into the lesson and then give you feedback, that's fine too! You and I can discuss long term arrangements via email if that's better for your schedule.

Is my daughter too young for "industry talk"?

Never. I don't make it scary—I make it empowering. Giving her the tools to handle rejection with her head held high at 12 years old, makes her a powerhouse at 22.

Is Marika Aubrey qualified?

Marika Aubrey has a Bachelor of Arts (Performance) at the University of Western Sydney - Theatre Napean and has taught theater classes for students at ATYP (Australian Theatre for Young People) for over a decade. Theater credits include lead roles in Matilda The Musical, Come From Away, Dear Even Hansen, South Pacific and many others. With dozens of private students who have been cast in the lead roles they were aspiring to book, the more important metric is that her students build resilience and confidence for a life in the arts, TV/Film and theater.

Don't let her talent languish in her hairbrush. Give her the Broadway edge today.
